Worship Service Planning Guide
This document was prepared originally to assist ministry students at European Nazarene College who were working in the planning and leading of campus worship services. The document was also used by students in my worship class. The aim is to help worship planners think about the theological and practical considerations in planning biblical, historically rooted, contextual, participatory worship. It is meant to be used as a guide early on in the service planning process.

All Saints' Celebration
This is a service designed to observe and celebrate All Saints. The service is interactive and intergenerational and was used in a flexible space with tables and chairs. It was originally connected to a community meal which fostered a more relaxed, fellowship-oriented atmosphere. The service is designed to be both educational and inspirational. In it, the community has opportunities to lament the loss of those who have died, to remember the hope of the resurrection, and to understand and give thanks to God for the role of Christians who have gone before us in our our journeys of faith.

Advent Themed Worship Service - Sacred Invitation: Expect
This worship service was the second of four Advent-themed services on the campus of European Nazarene College. The theme and elements of the services were the fruit of collaborative worship planning group comprised of myself as leader and facilitator, and a diverse group of people including students, faculty, and staff. The service is shaped by the Advent lectionary texts including Luke 21:25-36 where Jesus says, "Be always on the watch...". See below for the logo designed for the season.

Becoming Vessels of Grace
This was a morning workshop I created and facilitated for a Resident Assistant (student leaders in residential life) training weekend at MidAmerica Nazarene University. The leadership team approached me about leading a morning session that would facilitate inspiration as well as spiritual formation and refocusing for a group of student leaders as they prepared to minister to their peers during the Spring semester. The image of becoming a vessel into which God pours grace and out of which grace is poured came to my mind. The story of Mary immediately came to my mind as an example of someone who had faithfully lived as a vessel of grace. I also thought this a helpful setting to explore the means of grace from a Wesleyan perspective. Using the Annunciation story in Luke 1:26-38 as a framework, the morning consisted of three movements: 1) The Invitation of Grace, 2) The Means of Grace, and 3) The Goal of Grace. I also created a corresponding logo and Powerpoint background to enhance the metaphor.

Pastoral Rites
This document was developed for ministry students at European Nazarene College. It was used in a four week seminar I co-led on pastoral rites. It outlines some theological and practical considerations for baptism, dedication, communion, marriage, burial, ministry to the sick, and church membership. The document also includes some samples from my own ministry.

Wedding Planning Guide
This document was created to use with engaged couples in the planning of the marriage ceremony. It is meant to act as a guide to maintain the dignity of the wedding ceremony as an act of Christian worship and yet provide flexibility so it can be customized to "fit" the needs of the couple. This is definitely a work in progress and will no doubt be adapted as my context changes. It borrows elements from the Nazarene Manual, the Book of Common Prayer, and the Methodist Book of Worship.

Come to the Table
This regularly scheduled welcome lunch was an opportunity to intentionally extend hospitality to those who visited our congregation. It was informal and created a context where relationships could be developed. This document served to allow the church to learn more about newcomers and their needs. The lunch was part of a strategic process for welcoming newcomers and facilitating their journey into the life of the community.

Worship Brochure
This brochure was designed to communicate Overland Park Church of the Nazarene's theology of and approach to corporate worship. It was designed as one in a series of brochures to serve as a practical means of communicating the vision of the church to both members and guests. And, because it attempts to use easy to understand language, it was meant to be a means of hospitality to those new to the church.
